Here is some information about Restoring the Hoop from their website:
It is a nonprofit organization founded in October 2003 in Pitt County, North Carolina with the sole purpose of helping the Native American communities, starting with Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. We currently are focusing on providing much needed blankets for the elderly during the extremely cold winter months as well as providing warm clothing, educational materials, and supporting educational programs for the youth to assist them in becoming self sufficient citizens of their communities. On the Pine Ridge Reservation alone 69% of the children live in poverty and one half of the population of 46,000 people is under the age of 18. In the upcoming years we plan to grow substantially so that we can offer even more support and assistance to help the Native American communities through education, overcome poverty and adversity.
